Default EGR/DPF Quick Question

If you dont mind seeing the check engine light are there any other issues or problems that arise from EGR/DPF delete without the tuner. Or is the tuner solely for the purpose of making the light go off? Someone said something about it limps the truck. Whats the deal. Can you do it without the tuner if you dont mind the light?

As long as you use the sims at the sensor locations in the exhaust you should have no problems with limp mode. It's well worth it for the MPG gains, if you can live with the CEL. Most delete kits come with the sims.

I have the egr unplugged and blocked, straight piped from the turbo back except for the o2 sensors (re-installed them). With home made sims.
I have a cat full warning on my overhead with occasional dinging. Plus the cel.....but I'm getting a solid 5mpg better also.
I haven't figured out why my I have the warning. I tried with the pressure sensor hooked up and no hoses and also unplugged with the sim resistors installed.
No limp for the last 5K miles.
Saving up for a tuner.
