if your talkin about with the smarty i can hit 1550 under a hard WOT run on setting 8 and 9 setting 8 has higher egts than 9 guess it is because 8 has more fuel with no timing

So it would be odd for my truck to be hitting 1600 degrees with just an edge?

Nah i wouldnt say so but i never ran the edge but I would say that is not too hot you wouldnt want to keep it there very long but not unheard of. Keep in mind that the 6.7l can take more heat than the 5.9l because of the dpf which pushed the heat to 1600-1800 pretty regular. the pistons and vital engine parts have a coating on them to help cope with the heat the dpf helps make. any how dont think you have anything to worry about.
