hi.

im curently in afganastan and the coming home present to my self is a new truck, i want a diesel. my question to you 6.7L owners is, is there a huge difference in MPG from the 5.9 to the 6.7? also is the 6 speed transmition better than the 4 speed. just looking for different view points. thanks for any imput.

 

I have never owned a 5.9, my dad had one for a while and it did alright on mileage, generally 14-15. It didnt have any mods, and was a regular cab long bed. I have an 08 6.7 crew cab short bed, I deleted the dpf and egr and added an intake, I get around 18 usually. I love the 6 speed automatic, a lot of people say it has a week first gear and shifts to 5th and 6th too soon. I dont plan on putting a lot of power through mine so I dont worry too much about the weakness, and as far as the shifting too fast, you can always lock it out of those gears with the switch on the gear lever. All in all, whatever one you choose will make a great truck.
