I wouldnt be scared of it, every truck I have ever had has been salvage titled, they just get a bad rap because of the fly by night repair shops out there that dont fix them the right way, and then try to make a quick sale. I built my 08 6.7 this summer, it had 52K on it when I bought it, got it for under 18K, when finished had about 24K in it including the aftermarket wheels and tires.

 

You have nothing to worry about with a salvage title in most cases. Some states will ding a car with a salvage title for very minor damage, and other states will have cars that are totally smashed up and will still have a clear title.

 

Last year I bought an 08 5500 from the other side of the country, it was a salvage and it was on ebay, I googled the vin and it turned up an insurance auction link with pics. The truck had an engine fire and it wasn't that bad. It was repaired when i found it but it was comforting to find the before pics to see it wasnt that bad. I love this truck and will never have a problem buying a vehicl with a salvage/rebuilt tile so long as I can see the before,,,,,,,,last thing ya want is a flood vehicle.

 

I was at the action the other day and an 06 3500 quad cab had a broke back window and a busted up door handle. Someone attempted to steal it but never took it and it got hit with a salvage title for just that minor of damage.
