Trailer brake disconnected message
2010 Cummins
Every 3 to 5 minutes I get a ding and a message trailer brake disconnected". Get this on 2 trailers, both work fine hooked to a buddies Ford. Cleaned plugs, hook together snug, ground checks out. My brother has the exact same with his fifth wheel hooked to his 2017 Ram. Any ideas?

I had this Trailer Disconnected message many times immediately after a car wash or going through heavy rain regardless of trailer in tow.
Took it to one dealer and they used a 12v tester and advised it was fine as long as there is current. Took it to Action Truck in Whitby, Ontario and the tech tested each and every wire and noticed there was current but, the current was not consistent when the 7 Way and 4 Way wiring harness was moved.
Turned out that the connection for the 7 Way and 4 Way located by license plate of the rear bumper was corroded.
Smooth sailing ever since after having the 7 Way and 4 Way connection was replaced and properly sealed.
