Default smoke switch

Ik most people aren't gonna like this but I just put a smoke switch on my 09 cummins and I swear I did everything right but its not smoking. My truck is in limp mode because no dpf and no tuning and I think this is why its not smoking. I can feel the difference when its switched. My question is would it make sense that its not smoking because of limp mode? Also when I'm driving around not trying to smoke do I want to leave it in the on position or off? Ik extended use is bad for it but since it wont smoke idk which position to leave it in. I dug myself a whole here and I'm not sure what to do.

Tune the engine, it will come out of limp mode, and you will be able to make some smoke if you really want it

With no tuning. Just prepare your self for engine failure

Got it tuned about 100hp it only puffs a tiny cloud for a split second when I hammer on it. Is that normal? I was expecting more.

That's normal smoke means nothing all the later tunes are going to produce less smoke
