What to do first?
Cab off is easier and cheaper than doing it in the truck. Just FYI, and studs are a job anyone who can turn wrenches is capable of doing. There are several write ups on this, both cab on and cab off. I would never put the studs in one at a time like that, the heads must come off and be machined/pressure checked.
Huh its not that bad just do what you can a little at a time. It sucks that we need to do some of these things to keep our trucks running strong and long Mabey ford should get on a few forms to find out.what they don't need to.do and change.on thee new trucks but o well gives us somthig to talk about. Also you want to change you oil ever 5 k and only use ford motorcraft oil and fuel filters.
I ran an SCT on a race tune for 20,000 miles on a stock motor and never one problem. I was trying to blow a gasket but never happened. I opted for the bulletproof egr cooler and not the delete. The SCT tuner shuts off the EGR valve. Also listen to ranger518 on the filters. I ran napa filters until my mechanic found out and slapped me in the face.
Who's race tune did you run? Or was it just the lame-o canned tune on the SCT? I wish I could say the same about not having problems running tunes...
Also just as an FYI, technically speaking the SCT shuts EGR valve function from 100% on to 95% off, but it CAN still pop open under pressure.

I am running custom tunes from Eric at Innovative. I have since stopped running the race tunes and switched it over to the street tunes, just destroyed a turbo. I know it can pop open from reading your other post on the egr valves. I went with the bulletproof egr so either way, im covered......I hope.
