As long as it's there, it has a chance to fail, and that goes for the new one. I've heard nothing but good about the bulletproof coolers, but anything can fail, it's just nature.

Yes I blew my gaskets with studs installed. The dealers will never do them right because they wont machine the heads. Ford says use new heads, some new heads are out of spec...

ya see wen i stretched my bolts i dont think they decked heads or put new ones on at that but im pretty sure everythings still holding up and ya true true everything can fail if these 6.0s were redesigned with six studs per cylinder and more thought out egr system they would be one of the greatest engines ever

Try getting the turbo cleaned...sounds like the veins are sticking.

Yes there is a better designed EGR cooler... From Neal industries (bulletproofdiesel) they take factory units cut them at the weld seams on each end and remove the guts and replace them with 6 stainless tubes.... it makes it so that it basically wont fail like the normal coolers do. I put one in my Rig and havn't had any issues with it. I also picked up my ARP studs for about 420 bucks when i did my head gaskets. I just ran again with regular Ford Gaskets. My heads where within spec when i had them check and only just skimmed them with the mill to clean them and not shave them down. But i do know this... If i ever blow my head gaskets again i will change my studs and O-ring my heads.... O-ringing them will make them handle up to about 50lbs of boost before failure. Got to love tourqe to yeild bolts.... then not even enough of them to secure the heads well enough not to prevent gasket failure....

I haven't heard of ANYONE that has had good luck with o-ringed heads on a 6.0. Most stories of o-ringed heads on the boards all end in tragedy. I paid $385 shipped for my ARPs. Browns diesel is the cheapest I've seen for them.

Even with the bulletproof cooler I have a feeling you'd still be able to flash boil the coolant in there, but I'm curious to hear if it does or not from guys who are using them. It still wont fail as easily as the stock setup for sure and if I lived in Cali, I'd have one on my truck instead of the full delete now.
