Hello all, i am looking for some good advice, or anything really, that you can tell me about doing this swap. The motor i am going to swap is a 1990 cummins with 150k miles on it and was on a 5 spd trans and will be adapted to my zf5. I am looking for any advice on making life easier as far as doing the swap goes. This is my first time doing something like this, so any help would be great. I have the manual from FordCummins in Kalispell, Montana, and will probably get their conversion parts for this project.

For right now i just want to get the motor in and the truck driveable as soon as i can, however i do realize the amount of hours and patience that this is going to take to complete. I am working on a somewhat limited budget so i cant get really fancy. My long term goal for this truck is to be putting out somewhere in the neighborhood of 400 hp & 800-900 lbs ft of torque.

I forgot to add that i have the whole 1990 dodge donor truck, which does have the nv4500 trans behind it. Would it be better to use that trans or my zf5? If the nv is better, what will i need to do to get it in.
