So the 46RH has had enough with my beatings and is shot. Im wondering what my options are to replace it. obviously stock wont last. Id like a manual but i have a feeling it will be a pain in the a. Is a NV4500 a bolt in?

Yea you can make it fit but you will need a whole list of 2nd gen parts to do so. Adapter plate, bellhousing, hydralic sytem, starter, i believe a tcase adapter, ... There are more parts you will need and im sure someone will fill in the blanks. I went from the 518 to a getrag because i already had some of the parts from a wrecked 90 w250. It worked well for me and i have no complaints with the Getrag, you just have to know how to maintain them & know your limits.
