the adapter plates are different and neither would your transmission work on his 2nd gen the computer works completely different. and also your transfer cases have different spline shafts as well. his stuff would work for you but your stuff wouldnt work for him

When it comes to a manual transmission and putting an auto in, itll work since ur 518 has no computer and only requires toggle switches to work(Only RE transmissions require a computer to aid in shifting in stock form). Engine adapters are different but if you both swap those too ud be fine. The transfer case is the main issue you will run into, the input shafts are differnt between the NP205 and the NP241DLD or NP241DHD. But those parts can be found rather easily and are not that expensive in retrospect. Let me know if i can be of any help as we can get you the parts for the tcase. I have put a NV4500 in my 88 chevy with a NP205 so im pretty sure we can help ya out.

Like posted, you will have to swap engine adapter plates. Some crossmember work will be needed for both of you. You will need to install a master cylinder then adapt it the the slave for the 4500, its different than the getrag.

As for the 2nd gen, wire the center wire to 12V key hot circuit, then run the other wire to a toggle switch grounding out and he'll have OD. I hope he knows thats a non lock up transmission.
