That's what my dad suggested after I posted it... we're still heating, soaking, and tapping. Will let y'all know as soon as we get this beast apart LOL

Well, after hours of trying it won't budge... I guess 240k miles will do that to parts. Here's where it stands as of today, I left a pool of rust penetrant and inhibitor and will let it soak overnight and see what it does tomorrow.

Comparing the stock housing to the new 12cm... can anyone tell from the pic if I had a 21cm or 18cm housing?

I cleaned up the compressor wheel and around it and noticed the scratches/cracks/gouges in the second pic. Are they normal or not good?

the housings are stamped on the inside where the 2 holes are side by side (the part that attaches to the manifold , it will be stamped most likely a 16

Well a lot has happened since I last posted in this thread, long story short the backing plate on the compressor side broke so I had the entire turbo rebuilt and it turned out great. I also see I was one of the lucky ones to get a 21cm housing from the factory

Anyway, here's what the turbo looked like before...

I can't wait to get the 12cm housing on it and take the truck for a test drive!

The first 70,000 intercooled trucks made in 1991 had the 21cm housing, and all others after that had the 18cm.
