Excessive blowby

Excessive blowby
Hello,
My 04.5 cummins has some pretty excessive blowby. The engine has 215,000 miles. it does puff with the engine and it will rattle the oil cap. No signs of blue in the smoke just a very white smoke. it does use oil, around a quart in 500 miles or 2 quarts if towing. part of that is being leaked out the front crankshaft seal (mabey from the pressure in the crankcase).
the blowby tube above the axle at times has oil residue in it, but it never leaves a puddle on the ground. The blowby is only visible once the engine is at operating temperature. I fear it is the rings, but the puzzling thing to me is that it runs fantastic. starts quickly, idles flawlessly and runs very strong, even with the chip turned off.
Im just curious, this is my first diesel, and i dont know much about them, but could there be something else causing this?
Any thoughts would be appreciated
Thanks!

rings...a compression test would tell for sure. we just tore one down with 460k miles on it that the guy was still using pulling hot shot loads it didnt even white smoke just was using alot of oil. it had rings broke in 4 cylinders. when they changed the pistons in 04.5 they moved the top ring up higher and they have alot more ring problems.

Thats what i was afraid of So this is all new to me. What would a reasonable price be to rebuild a common rail. Adrenaline Preformance here in town quoted me 10,000 for complete rebuild with injectors, 7,500 with out injectors. any thoughts? do i need injectors? any pieces of advice on what to do or not to do when it comes to rebuilding. im just looking for a good stock rebuild.
thanks!
thanks!

we done one with a reman head from cummins, reman turbo and 5 reman injectors, reused 4 of the pistons with R&R it was $8395 so 10k is possible depending on parts included but i doubt that they were including a head and turbo so that would be too much. the lease expensive we've done one was around $4200 that was reusing 5 of the pistons. machine work can swing the price as much as a grand so keep that in mind. one of the 2 we are doing right now required over a grand in machine work. 5 cylinders bored +.040" 1 cylinder sleeved 14 valves some springs and other misc things.

Thanks for the info, im curious about injectors. ive decided to get new ones for the rebuild, but i dont know what would be best for my needs. my sig is up to date and i use the truck to pull a 23 ft camp trailer through the mountains. What power level would be best? Ive read alot about fireball injectors but cant seem to find them anywhere. are they still availiable?
Thanks

Pure Diesel power sell an overhaul kit for 1500 hundred with oversized pistons and bearings and all the gasket and rings, but its the labor and machining that really get you and any possible parts such as Valves, springs, that can get you...
