Default weak lift pump

i think i have a weak in-tank lift pump (lift pump on the block was removed by previous owner).
A couple weeks ago it started hesitating between 45-55 mph under load until i gave it more throttle or let off throttle. otherwise started and ran great. drove it that way for a couple weeks before i was told it was my lift pump. havent driven it since. i do have two questions though
1) do you think my vp44 is ok seeing as the problem has not progressed beyond the hesitation and will not be driven at all until i replace the pump.
2) im on a tight budget. would the stock replacement fass pump be sufficient for my particular application with the edge chip or will i require something more? i would prefer to stick with fass as i have read really good reviews about it. but if theres something better for a tight budget im all ears.

unfortunately i cannot do anything about this until i start bringing in some money again. Im a school bus driver and i havent had any work since school let out may 17th and i wont start driving for summer school until tommorow then i need to get back on track with bills and save up to afford the new pump. suck but it is what it is.

appreciate any input...

As you have an EJWA, what is your fuel pressure?

It could be fine, it could be damaged, hard to say unfortunately.

2) im on a tight budget. would the stock replacement fass pump be sufficient for my particular application with the edge chip or will i require something more? i would prefer to stick with fass as i have read really good reviews about it. but if theres something better for a tight budget im all ears.
I'd do a FASS Platinum as then you would have an extra filter. Otherwise, an AirDog Raptor would be a little less money and work fine.

my fuel pressure was staying steady at 9-10 psi at cruising which i learned a few days ago is too low. 12 psi at startup.

thank you for the pump recommendations

9-10 at WOT is the lowest you want to see. A healthy 14-18 is good at idle or cruising.

01quadcab, i parked the truck until i can afford a fass 150 but im gonna use the current in tank pump for the fuel gauge. i want to do it right the first time unlike the previous owner did hence the reason im having this issue.
