Drilling a silencer ring
i plan to pull the ring back out, when i did pull it out before i saw only a gain in noise which was awesome i did however notice that the noise in the cab did increase with the holes drilled just not as much as having it removed.
when i took myne off my 03 cummins i noticed a huge increase in noise, throught the whole power band but not at idle. it doesnt sound like a jet engine when idling like a for 6 liter does. but my question is, since taking the ring out, does that allow more airflow and horsepower or is that just causing the air rushing into the turbo to become turbulent and thus make noise?
My HX35 over S400 COMPOUNDS have very little turbo whistle. Especially compared to my buddys HX35 with a stage 2 S&B intake. When cruising down the hiway, it sounds like there is a dentists drill in the glove box.

but no there is less airflow with out the turbo silencer ring due to the way the air spins when interring the turbo and yes its the turbulent that causes the noise
