I don't think you have a snubber. All that looks like is the banjo adapter to thread a gauge into.

When you go back to the place that installed it, make sure you point out this on AutoMeter's web page. You could even print it off and show them.

"WHEN INSTALLING THIS PRODUCT ON '98-02 DODGE CUMMINS DIESEL APPLICATIONS, AUTO METER FUEL PRESSURE SNUBBER / RESTRICTOR FITTING #3279 IS REQUIRED. "

I am 99% confident that will have you fixed. There is a chance it is an electrical issues, but seeing there is no snubber, I'd bet my money on the sending unit.

It was the sender failed due to lack of snubber?
