This is why I put mine coming out of the front lower portion of the tank. It's still above the frame rail by an inch. If it ever presented a problem a skid plate would be an easy fab to cover it over.

We just installed one on an 06 Sunday and here is what we did about the pickup. I've heard too many times about running out of fuel on a hill, so we put a hose on the pickup
