Well I know the way I have mine set right now it doesn't back down while I'm running a 1/4 because I'm not using its supplied egt probe and using a apillar mounted gauge, the only things that are on to back down are set high enough that I have ran and watched the back down percentage and it never comes on to back down.

And get some gauges asap! Don't kill your pump without enough fuel and don't run egts that high your going to melt some stuff down quick

180 is fine, 230 is max.
