Default VGT swap

After getting my 07 and feeling how fast it spools, im swapping in a VGT into my 24v . Just looking for feedback from anyone who has done this. I know what basic parts i need but is there anthing special? Turbo, manifold, Fleece controller. I will also be putting a thread in the for sale section to sell my super b special (with dp) and bd exhaust manifold . Thanks guys.

they sell adapters to go on your existing manifold and use your downpipe, you can find them on ebay save a little money.other than that the oil feed line from your turbo works, the drain needs a little tweaking but nothing major. oh and the intake charge pipe needs modded. good luck!

How did you like it on your truck? I want to use the third gen manifold so i can put a waste gate on it.

it worked well, spooled awesome but the drive pressures went through the roof , all vgt turbos are that way though. why would you need the third gen manifold for the wastegate? in all honesty with the vgt turbo you probably don't even need one i had 150's with it and never overspooled it. i had 10psi by about 1500rpm's and full boost by 2200. it would hit a little over 40psi

The high drive pressures is why id put it on. The kits ive seen for the wastegate bolt right on to the where the EGR would go. My Super B special doesnt light til 1750-1800. With a 5 spd it sucks. I didnt realize how laggy it was til i got my 07.

oh cool, but im not sure you can get away from the high drive pressures too much because of the basic design of the vgt turbo, helps a lot with spooling but with all the extra material in there even at full open position the design of the turbine housing causes friction. they have there plus and minuses.

i just finished the 351ve on my 5 speed. it spools way faster. i recommend the 3rd gen manifold too. it seemed to quite the truck down alot. it was either the manifold or turbo. i'm leaning towards the manifold because it moves the turbo down and back-almost out of the engine bay.

now i just have to sweeten it up by tuning the software for it!
