[QUOTE=banditsdiesel;729470]its in the arp specs to do this. it mainly just helps get the stud seated and if its going to strech any it does it then so by the final torque the are seated correctly. i would strongly recommend doing it as instructed by arp.QUOTE]

I would definently do it, just like bandits siad it helps seat the threads and stretch the stud, we do it to the rod bolts every time we put new rods in our race motor, I re-torque the head studs three times or more on that motor too, I'm pretty **** about that.

if your using stock head bolt then this is correct. but using head studs it is not. it is not enough torque to keep the stud streched out and will cause the head to lift under high boost conditions. head studs are torqued from a min of 125 and can be torqued up to 200 lbft or more depending on the build and application.

yes only moly lube or something similar. oil can according to arp cause the stud to not seat the threads properly in the head and can cause them to not run all the way down in the head. im not gonna argue with them but i know that people have been using oil to build engines for years. but hey they know more than i do so why not try it their way.
