Default Good deal on a set of compounds

Hey guys. I have a guy offering to trade me his 62/s475 compound kit for my super b special 64 plus $1000 cash. He says his kit has 1000 miles on it and is in perfect shape. Question is, his trucks a 12v and mines 24v. I know the exh manifolds are slightly different. Everything else is the same right? I figure I'll just turn my stock manifold upside down and he can keep his manifold. Sound good?

Also, what's all involved in moving the oil cooler? Mines an auto and I've heard that all has to be moved to fit correctly.

Thanks!

First off, why is he selling them?
I think you'll be able to bolt everything up just fine. All I did was flip my manifold in my set up. It may not work if the snail of the 62 is too big. I could only turn mine so far before the snail and exh manifold made contact.

As for the oil cooler, it needs to be removed to make room for the big turbo. You can try and relocate it, I just removed mine completely. I had my shop make some 1/2 hoses with JIC ends on them, and used a handful of fittings to plumb it all together.

Just relaying info here but he says he doesn't have the fuel to supply them. He wants to back to a single charger. He promises there's nothing wrong with them. Is it ok to just take the cooler out then? That doesn't bother anything?

The heat exchanger (cooler) is more for warming the oil in cooler/cold weather then cooling the fluid. I talked to many shops before excluding mine completely, and the factory air to oil cooler up front works just fine to keep the trans cool.

Sounds good to me. I think it sounds like a deal then as long as the manifold works out

I was also using a HX35, so the 62 may fit differently. If it doesn't fit, you can make a spacer out of mild steel to lift the 62 up higher. A coworker did that with his, and I will probably have to with mine when I put my HX40 wheel and housing on.

Well what's the difference between the manifolds that makes it fit differently? Is it more severe of an angle when you flip the stock manifold?

I think some of the manifold designed for compounds have more clearance for a turbo. Achieved by different angles of the flange.

That's what I figured. If worst comes to worst I'll just order a new manifold I guess

That's one way to do it, but a piece of mild steel cut out works really well. A lot cheaper as well.
