Got an idea need some help
yeah now im pretty sure my vp44 is fried. replaced the lift pump and bled the lines, still no cranking, but still havent got any codes from the dash or the scanner. Im fed up with it, i think im going to buy and airdog and an upgraded vp44 and a set of injectors. Might as well blow the whole wad
Have you installed the fuel pressure guage yet? sometimes a VP-44 will die without setting a code but thats somewhat unusual. I would make sure that the pump is dead before I bought a new one - but its definitely not sounding good.
Dont waste youre money on an upgraded VP-44. An SO pump is more than fine. Try to get a pump that has new electronics.
Good call on the Airdog. FYI, there are alos mechanical pumps - Glacier Diesel and Mitusa as well.

thanks for the tips. that should save some money. As far as testing the pump to see if it bad, how do i go about doing that? Im new to diesel and have learned alot in the past week just seems that im not learning the RIGHT things
unless you upgrade to a monster pump there is no gain going to an hrvp etc. Get a good sovp 44 and a good lift pump and you will be very happy. If your going the injectors route decide what you want as a hp goal first so you don't buy multiple sets of injectors.
Are you sure you have fuel to the head? Did you try taking the lines loose where they meet the connecting tubes at the head and making sure theres fuel after the vp?
i seemed to have had a problem like what your having about 2 months ago. a buddy told me that the easiest way to make sure that your injector pump is working or not is to get a 0-15 psi gauge and get the fittings needed to put it in one of the two holes where you see little black plug bolts on top of your fuel filter. once you get that done then you can start your engine. your lift pump should be pushin around 13 psi to your injector pump if i remember right. and when you rev the engine the psi should go down, if it doesn't then the injector pumps bad. but im not sure how to check it if you cant get the thing running. hope this helps you though!!
