Default To pump or not to pump......

I've been doing some tinkering to my truck...added a Edge JWA, CAI, and a Banks High Air intake system to my truck. Problem is when I step on the go go pedal my fuel pressure warning comes on.

So I think that I will be needing a lift pump. Any suggestions? I have looked at the AIR DOG II which is running around $630. Problem is finding someone to install it for less than what the pump costs. Right now I am running stock injectors, stock tranny, and stock rear end so what ever pump I get needs to be on a leash until I can replace these other parts!

Any suggestions??

Thanks!!

Mike

The Airdog II is an excellent fuel system setup. If your on a limited budget I would suggest checking out a Raptor pump.

Thanks Luke for the reply! I was actually looking at it on your website. I have a couple of questions......How long / hard to install the newer version of the Air Dog 2? Will it do any damage because I am still running stock parts?

Only problem with the price is what people want to charge to install it! Besides wifey owes me big time. She did me a favor last week....she took my truck to Exxon and filled it up for me. Problem was she filled it up with 33 gallons of gas. So I can get a "moderate" pass on pampering my truck!

Default Raptor lift pump.

You can get a Raptor 150 for under $400, we just put one on both our trucks and it seems like a good pump, no extra filtration though if thats what you are after. The install is pretty basic, no special tools or anything required.

At what pressure does your warning light come on at? If your pressure drops under 5psi fairly easy, you really are putting your injection pumps life in the balance.

Moparious

The warning light on the Edge comes on at 5psi. It only happens when I really step on it. The reason I was looking at the Air Dog 2 was the "in the future" type thing.

What sort of pressure does the Raptor put out? What would the max HP rating be? Does it increase the MPG any?

We see 18-20psi at idle and 10-12psi at full load fuel, thats with the 65hp injector/comp box truck, my truck with only the EZ I have a hard time getting the pressure to drop below 15psi.

I dont think you will see a MPG gain, maybe a performance gain, the 1 ton sure runs harder now, we were starving it pretty bad before.

I think they rate that pump to support 650-700hp, but I think you would have to draw straw/sump the tank to get that much fuel to the pump, the stock pickup just isnt big enough for much over 400hp.
