Its been a long time since I added anything to my truck or really beat on it but today at work with the comp on 4:3 I went to go in reverse and had nothing, I also have no low gear so I amagine its the low/reverse clutch.
Can anyone chime in and correct me if I'm wrong please?
Either way I thing I am going to have to rebuild it and throw some billet in the mix, anyone do this at home with a master rebuild kit?

Check the adjustment on your rear band. That band is used for reverse and manual low. It is not a common part to wear out as manual low isn't used too often under power and neither is reverse. Infact, most rebuild kits do not include or replace the rear band.

For your second question, I rebuilt my own trans using a master rebuild kit from DTT. It was a very straight forward process. Make sure you have some books on the subject though as they will be of great help. I also really liked my alldata, it was very thorough for the tranny rebuild. The main problem most people would encounter trying to do a trans on their own is the O/D direct spring. It has approx. 830lbs of force against it, and you need a press and a special tool to compress it.
