Most everybody I have talked to say they sound like that, and that the one's used by one of the local shops in particular, are said to be very noisy, and when they quite making noise, they need replaced. But, with that being said, the twin disk setup in my truck has never made any noise like others I have head, actually you can only hear the slightest bit of noise when you are listening for it. My clutch is a McLeod, it has been in for about a year, and I have been very happy with it. Hope this helps

A sidenote on my clutch, I'm note sure if all of the McLeod clutches are as quiet as mine has been, or if the guy that works on my truck has some little trick he does to them, it wouldn't suprise me, he is really good, and very meticulous, to the point that I could see the noise that is commonly associated with dual disks anoying the hell out of him, to the point of him figuring out a way to get rid of the noise!

Sounding like crap? I'm sure a little bit of noise is acceptable depending on how aggressive the clutch is. What brand and kind of clutch? How old/miles on it? Ceramic or organic or Kevlar? Do you have the upgraded slave cylinder? Maybe describe it just a hair bit more. Sorry I'm all about the details.

I'm wondering how you get an extra quart of oil in a manual trans. Seeing how it has a fill plug like a differential. I'd rather live with a bit of noise than blow my seals out although I have yet to see how adding execs oil quiets a clutch.

do some research on it and it will be amazing how much you will learn. There are lots of forums, websites, etc, where you can search information, you might wanna try them out sometime.

The way to do it is by pulling the shift tower, and pouring the oil in from the top...I don't even use my fill plug anymore, as there's a factory problem with the nv4500 transmissions. The factory specs say to fill to 4 qts, but the problem is that when Dodge mounted them into these trucks, the tranny sits at a slight angle backwards. This angle, combined with only 4 qts of fluid, causes the fluid to pool to the back of the transmission, causing it to not lubricate the input shaft and gears properly. The fix for this is to pour 1 extra qt of fluid down through the shift tower. As far as blowing out seals, if you look at these transmissions, they aren't a sealed pressurized unit. If you somehow do overfill it, all it's going to do is come out the weep holes in the top of your tower. But, if you put 5 qts in, you're not going to overfill that tranny...
