If there is soooo much concern about smoking people out, why not turn down the fueling in town, or around others? A lighter foot will yield the same results.

imo i WOULD NOT put stacks. i got a regular cab longbed that i had a 6 inch stack on it was on for like 5 months and it drove me crazy it wasnt even enjoyable to drive vibratin on the back window. i took it out and put a 5 inch turbo back on it and its like a different truck. thats my look on it.

Ya the only problem with turning down a modded truck is you have to keep you small injectors haha or buy two sets. If noise is a problem you could always run a muffler, mine is a reg cab and I LOVE my stacks now that my twins quieted it down a bit but I ran them without a muffler. I bought all the pip for $20 I would call around local auto/diesel shops and ask them if they have any used exhaust (4-5 inch) they would sell for cheap, then you will just need access to a welder and plasma or die grinder.

I'm running dual 5 in stacks behind my cab, for whatever reason, the noise from my stacks isn't any more than when it was a straightpiped 3 in exhaust....but, I know that some trucks react differently to stacks, as far as noise and whatnot goes...and yeah, with a manual, even with my boxes off, I still gotta be careful about how I drive, because I'll still lay a cloud out with my 150s and 64/71/14.....

well lots of good info here, i was refering to keeping them clean as, just genral maintnace, ie, washing your truck. i like to keep my truck as clean as i can, i do fish, and hunt, and go in mud, stones and regular roads, and have seen plenty of stacks get trashed because the owner was just lazy, and i don't blame him i would get sick of cleaning all that chrome all the time. i had a guy help me move and i had to watch what i put in the back of his truck with his stack on so my stuff didn't get trashed, it wasn't a huge deal but it was a pain.

I run my truck turned up once in a while and i feel like a complete douchebag when i leave a light and smoke out the cars... I wish i had stacks! However i would find black ones OR paint/coat them black because i personally HATE chrome with the deepest fiery passion of my soul. But of coarse to each their own!
