I'm in Louisiana and I've crossed several cops with mine. They either see it and don't care or don't even notice (so far). Mine is a little over a foot tall but a few inches below the top of the truck.

How friggin' loud is it, having the hood stack? I have no intentions of running box stacks due to the constant drone in the cab. I can only imagine a hood stack would be extremely noisy.

Most tickets that get written for this are for obstruction of view but it also falls under the federal guidelines of the Clean Air Act and modifications of motor vehicle emissions control systems. According to this act most of what we do with our trucks is illegal, just like smoke. many of us have trucks that smoke but when we have a cop next to us we don;t blow smoke all over them and we get away with it, for the most part. If you keep a low profile and stay below the radar then nobody pays much attention but hood stacks are hard to hide when they pull up next to you. Can you get away with it, well some on here have. Can you be fined for it, if they feel like it.

Personally, there is no "cool factor" to me. If the truck is a dedicated sled puller sure, otherwise I can not think of any reason for one.

I would stay away from the hood stack idea it would only cause you trouble. Plus if you ever sell it who wants a stack coming out of the hood or a giant hole in the hood

Has anyone ever made one come out the side and how do you open your hood with that pipe the way.
