Default Headstud questions

I am going to be needing to get head studs for my truck. I've been looking at ARP 12mm kit, but wanted to know if I need to take the head off or can I just install them with the head in place? I'm wanting to do a water/meth kit and set my wastegate to open at about 50psi. I just trying to figure out how much I have to spend on parts and what I need to pay someone to install. Thanks.

You dont have to take the head off. Jus take one out and replace it. There is a thread in the 24v aftermarket forum with some instructions and good reading on them.

Depending on the shape everything is you may be better off to let it blow and some point and do a new head gasket studs and have the thing o-ringed. I know that water meth can be hard on things.

Well what would everyone recommend, get o rings and headstuds or just headstuds and wait for it to blow?

if it were me I would take the head off o-ring it and stud it. Then you know what you have. I blew mine with 100hp jammers and my 62 but my edge didn't read boost proper. So it was not making 32 it was making 48. Less mess to clean up in the long run that way. Plus your head with get surfaced and be flat. What injectors are you running? My guess is 100hp jammers as I made 448 with them.

Well right now I have 150hp jammers, but I have been looking at getting a set of the DDP150hp. I dynoed it at 459.8hp and 824.3tq at the tires a few weeks back and now I want more. I don't have a set number in my head but north of 600 at the tires. Taking your advice I think that I will just try and see how much it will be to get the head o-ringed and maybe a little port and polish work too. I hope that with all that and water/meth I can make somewhere near 550hp. As for traction I am getting a set of bars, slicks and a locker to help out on launchs. Thanks for the help.

Well, depending on when you want to meet your goal for power I would stick with the jammers for now. You will need more injector to hit 600. I have been there already. jammer 100's made 444, ddp 110's made 488, ddp 200's made 532. all done with the same specs turbo you have. Then I added the bottom turbo and with the 200's made 575. Then went to ddp comps and made 603

Well thanks for the help. I'm looking at around $800 in labor to have the head checked and o-ringed and install the headstuds. I think that will be my best route.

I would fire ring it.FIRE RING GASKET KIT, 24V, 24 VALVE CUMMINS, COMMON RAIL, ISBE Haisley Machine Then use H-11 studs 12MM HEAD STUDS, STANDARD, HEAVY DUTY, H-11, 12 VALVE, 24 VALVE, HEX HEAD BROACH Haisley Machine but this is what I would do.JMO!!

What makes the H-11 studs better than the ARP 12mm studs. I'm new to all of this, but haven't really heard to much about anything other than ARPs.
