Default Try an hx40 turbo??

Ok, so heres the deal. Theres a lot of talk about it not even being worth upgrading to the hx40. My truck is an auto, so obviously i have the restrictive 9cm hy35... Check out the sig... with those upgrades, gettin on it really can make some egt's and i can feel the air restriction. So ive been thinking of buying a 62/65/12 or something like that, but for the time being would like to get something cheaper. I have many projects right now and just cant spend that money. This summer i will be towing a car trailer with a jeep on it, and a boat. I can just see what's gonna happen runnin the stock turbo. So, i was thinking for now and until i can get the funds together, maybe ill just run an hx40. I now there are negatives about ebay, and it may be a knockoff turbo, but check this out...

Turbo Charger hx40 dodge ram pickup cummins diesel : eBay Motors (item 270548304697 end time Mar-23-10 18:30:53 PDT)

For $360 shipped is this worth doing for the time being? I just wouldnt mind a little more flow and lower egt's. It looks like it's a 60mm/16? ITS GOTTA BE BETTER THAN THE HY35... Oh and other than the hx40 downpipe will i need to buy anything else? It has a t3 flange so it'll fit right up correct? No adaptors or anything?

I appreciate the input guys

16cm3 housing is good sized. It may be too big. The HX35's have 12's and 14's. One can always try the HX40, if it is in good shape, and works well, the price is right.

For that price id have to say its probably a Chinese made HX40. I have heard of alot of problems with these Chinese made turbos. Remember you get what you pay for.

I would NOT waste my money on it. It looks like a Chinese Knock-Off, its an HX40 STYLE. Here the description, I pointed out a couple of things in red.

Fits 1999-2005 5.9L cummins engines,
but can be used on many four and six cylinder cars and trucks.
Custom made.

Specs:
HX40 style
16cm3 housing
wastegated

Compressor wheel: 60mm in. x 85mm ex.
7 Blades

4 inch compressor inlet
3 inch compressor outlet

t3 flange
4 inch vband exhaust outlet

I would pass on that too. Im pretty sure Hx-40s used to sell for $850-$1000

Maybe you can find an HX-35 for next to nothing?
