Default BD Auxillary Lift Pump

What are your thoughts on this set up... to me it looks cool because of cost but what all actually comes with it, what does it do... does it relocate and do big fuel lines... who has run this bad boy let me know thanks.. Cameron

There is nothing wrong with a BD anything. That said, the newer the truck gets more the important fuel quality is. Consider the FASS (150 series - with filters) for the number of times things can go wrong, and probably will (on stock) having superior fuel quality and lots of it makes a world of difference.

Also, looking at your sig. I would think that running a set of gauges would be in order. A stock LP, an EDGE EZ and ... = problems.

Any kind of upgrade to the stock fuel system is better than nothing but as already mentioned there are better options.

The biggest bang for the buck is probably a Vulcan performance big line kit and a Holley Blue or Holley Black on the frame rail.

I am a big fan of BD products but this is one I am not. Please consider something like the FASS 95/150.

The thing I don't like about the BD setup is it requires the use of the factory lift pump and it must be in good working order. The kit basically relocates an additional factory lift pump on the frame rail which feeds the stocker. Now here is where it gets ugly - I have only sold one of these, and I have swayed everyone since. Customer was getting 32psi of fuel pressure at the VP44!!!! BD claims its ok. I have spoken to alot of other injection shops who all say 20 psi max.

I have had several customers install the FASS systems on their 24V and actually see a performance increase, however slight. Some things in my mind are just worth the cost.

I myself have sold alot more BD kits than I have FASS Kits due to the price difference. Most of the people that I have sold kits to get the OEM Bypass Kits because this totally bypasses the stock LP. Like Dr.Evil stated the best bang for your buck is a Vulcan Big Line Kit and a Holley. If you want the best money can buy and don't want to worry about fuel pressure again then get FASSed.....

i second the vulcan kit, best value plus if the LP needs changing it can be done quick.

Another option is the Walbro kits...a lot of guys report pretty good things from them.

Go with the BD for value but go for the FASS for never doing it again. My 2 cents.
