hey guys im helping my buddy install a comp box on his 00 cummins he just bought and we cant find the data link connector in stock harness the instructions say its down by the power steering pump but we cant find it and the instructions dont have any pictures can somebody tell me where the hell I plug this thing in at??

 

It'll be there. It will most likely have a dust plug in the end of it.

It might be hard to see, but if you run your hands over the harness below the filter housing, you'll find it. Sometimes it gets caught between the engine and the main harness.

It's shape is like a flat four trailer harness. Kinda oval.

Im thinking i found his problem the comp box is for an 01-02 its not the 98.5-2000 one are the plugs in the these years of trucks different? because iv went over the harness with a fine comb and cant find anything that matchs the box's harness

 

yeah they are different...

 

The 'data' plug is the same, the LOCATION is different. Early years, near front of engine by battery I belive, later years it's under/just in front of the fuel filter.
