well im thinkin about getting that smarty a gettin a comp box later on...i just havent decided cuz i plan on puttin my truck back to stock before i leave for three months, cuz im goin to let my dad borrow it so i dont really wanna have to unplug the edge juice so i was thinkin about gettin that smarty, so i can set it backk to its stock setting really easy...if i do that should i still get a litf pump and if so what you think is the better application for my truck

I would get the juice and be done with it. that way you have gauges and that saves you from buying them if you end up with just a smarty for a while you need gauges no matter what you run for a programmer. For the install of the juice just don't tap the wire and the gain will only be a max of 80. You get the all important fuel pressure gauge with the juice. You can always set the juice on 0 and don't show him how to change it. Set the alarms for temps and low pressure so if something goes crazy it really tells you about it. thats my opinion on it.

YOu mean don't tap the wire on the injection pump? I really would like to roll some pretty good smoke and i heard you cant really do it that well with a edge juice. I will be gettin injectors and lift pump when i get home. He would figure out how to use the edge, and i know that he would be hard on it. So ill probably just get a gauges and that smarty and do some stackin when i get home. Or sell the smarty and gauges and buy an edge juice. I appreciate your input though, your all alot of help.

edge juice and sticks will roll coal (150 or greater injector)...my truck will block out a good 4 lanes with plenty to spare....id really say get the edge and just leave it on the lower setting...if you think he is gonna pound on it, you can always turn down the low end boost to make it a little milder...

Yah but going with 150+ injectors im kind of worried about my injection pump, really dont feel like spending that upwards of 1700 on a new one...injectors and pump are later on this year when i get back... cant you just unplug the edge and everything be allright...i like the look of individual gauges better then seein a little monitor on my pillar...just cant really decide what exactly i want to do to my truck... i want to be able to roll some good smoke, have a truck that sits you back in your seat, and is a good comp. on the streets with these little fast and furious cars and other diesels around...any inputs?

whether you go with the smarty or the edge, you're gonna want to get a lift pump (air dog/fass)...get that on there and you wont (or shouldnt) have to worry about your pump going south on you...rolling stupid amounts of smoke it gonna require more than one thing (not just a box or injectors)...a programer and sticks is gonna make your truck quick...smarty in itself will not be as fast as the edge, and the smarty stacked with the edge will actually take away a little top end...keep in mind that you're gonna need to start saving for a clutch as well...if you dont like the look of the box, you can get the drag comp (same hp rating) or do what i did...i got 3 on the pillar, one lone one setting next to the pillar on the dash and the edge display mounted on top of the steering wheel...

Well I got a question... I have an old XZT Box, one that taps the pump wire. How well does one of these things stack with a Smarty? Its only the 60 or 65HP box, and remember its NOT the XZT+ (which plugs into the data plug).

is it adding timing? i would think you could stack it with the smarty, so long as the smarty is run on the odd umbers...
