I just use a o-ring pick to remove the paint prior to using the bit.

I don't get it, so you remove the paint, the warranty is still voided so what's the point.

To put a stealth plate on. I doubt warranty is still valid when they see a wire tapped on the VP44 either.

You don't have to remove the paint to put a plate on, the paint doesn't stop you from doing anything but if the paint seal is broken the warranty is voided. The wrench will turn the screws out with or without paint, that's why I didn't understand why the talk about how to remove it.

You are referring to the 5 point, tamper proof torq bolts, correct? I couldn't get my bit in there until paint was removed.

There are some companies that will warranty a VP-44 with a tapped pump wire. Rip at Source Automotive is one (or at least he used to).
