Default dumb timing question?

ok so i know how to adjust timing on a ppump my question is how do you know how much? when install injectors you need to but how do you know how much? lets say you oring the head, studs, compound setup, 5x.024's, full cut divertor valves, is there some kind of equation or what for how much timing you need to get full potential? thanks for realistic and helpful information.

i was just giving an example man my truck is just no plate bhaf and wastegate plugged , with timing at 16.5*, but I am a cummins tech by trade and i do about all of the local rodding to the trucks, but its always i want so many degrees of timing and thats what i put them at, and i was just wondering where they come up with these numbers or am i just missing something? cummins, and dodge can give you factory specs but after that they dont condone messing with emissions. just wondering what to time a truck at with what mods

depends on what the owner of the truck wants to do with it. RPM range, turbo choice, injector cone, pistons ... ect all play a part in it.

i understand that all mods play a part as does injection timing in the running of the truck, but i dont understand how you add those mods up to get the timing number. say you got a street strip truck 150hp sticks a super b special and water meth with a number 6 plate how would you come up with a timing number? or a puller manual trans, compound setup, quickspool cam, no plate, full cuts, sick big injectors, and the guy ask what do you recommend to set the timing at? how would you come up with a not off the hip intelligent answer? im not sure my question is coming off as clear as i want

its clear. but the way i know how to answer these questions is bunches and bunches of homework on the pros and cons of x timing vrs y timing. search and search and search and make a cummins bible on all this crap. then you can have a very good answer to give these customers based on your knowledge of what does what when you want x to do this. hope that helps because there is no real answer to your question without an end goal.

RonA on compd did a timing test on his truck. It's a bad *** 24 valve ppump first gen. that dyno's up in the 1200 horse range. The more timing he put in it the more power it made on the upper end. I think he went to 26 degrees. It's his daily driver.
