Default First towing run with my 12v, had a few issues.

Ok this is the deal, I just took my 5th wheel out to the desert towing the first time with my truck. I think my signature has all my mods. The trip is 100miles one way from East San Diego to Ocotillo Wells Off Road Park. It has it all, big hills, curves, flats, everything, from sea level to about 6000ft and back to below sea level in the desert floor.
I can keep the tranny cool if I stay locked up in 3rd or 4th it seemed to perform as well as I could ask a $3200 performance rebuild 47RE.
The problem is I have plenty of fuel, but can't use it because of the EGTs will go off the map. The main problems are on the hills of course. The best boost I can maintain is around 20PSI before it gets too hot and I have to back out of it. I need to know what to do next and these are the options I am thinking.
Bigger turbo? maybe a "Super B"
a bigger inter-cooler? like a BD, or Turbonetics
maybe a water/meth system to use on the hills?
.....all of three!?
Tell me what you think, this truck's only job is to tow my 5th wheel toy hauler that runs about 12000 lbs on a normal run and sometimes gets closer to 15000 with toys in it.
I do plan on adding a converter lock up switch for the times I get stuck chugging up a hill in 2nd gear and don't want my tranny temp going crazy.

a 100 plate with stock injectors and its gettin too hot? what kind of egt's are you seeing? and 20psi of boost is kinda low, have you checked for boost leaks?

I have an adjustable regulator valve on the waste gate line, right now it is closed. With the truck empty and not towing anything I can push 30psi of boost so I don't think I have any leaks.
I can be pulling the trailer and roll on the throttle with the converter locked and hit 1300* EGT at just past half throttle. It only takes a few seconds on a hill. Remember, my trailer is a lead sled!

Maybe my timing has slipped? I want to get it set around 16* as soon as I can get it done.

where do you have the plate set? and having th afc full forward isnt helping your heat problem, i'm sure it smokes down low like that and tuning that low boost smoke out will cool it off some

I was able to watch for smoke on the way back on Sunday and it really doesn't smoke much until I roll in a lot of throttle. Once I get into the throttle heavy it will go to a heavy dark haze but does not really "roll coal"

I believe I have the fuel plate about a 1/4 inch back from full forward. The AFC is full forward and then just back to get a good alignment on the bolts. The star wheel is just snug enough to keep the spring in place.

that dark haze is probably making some heat, it really should clean up nearly completly to keep the heat down...i would slide the AFC back some myself

Thanks for the input, I think I will have my diesel guy take a shot at tuning it a bit when I have him set the timing, maybe have him torque down the head while he is at it.

I really like the idea of a Super B or a D-TECH 62 but it's dam hard to choke up the coin this close to Christmas.

I was going to use Maximum Diesels in Hemet, (Russ is a buddy of mine) but that brings up the logistics problems of getting the truck up there.

Please send me contact info on your people, I will check them out.
