barrels are turned, phase timing is checked and adjusted if needed, each plunger is balanced to flow within tolerance of the other 5. depending on how far you want to go other plungers and barrels can be added, pump cam's be swaped out, and other tricks that the pump shop has. Pumps can be bench flowed with whatever dv's or gov springs you want. You should get a flow sheet that tells you how many cc's a your pump can flow.

you can have it flowed and benched for under 500 ... the cam swap is gonna cost more than that tho. You already have the good cam in the pump as it is so swaping it out is really not needed for a street truck

If you are going to change the pistons, you need to talk with SDX about what piston/injector combo will work best together. The P pumped 12V have a pretty narrow bowl in them stock, and there are other bowl designs that could work better with aftermarket injector spray patterns, depending on the injector.

X200000 on the cam. I really can't stress enough what a good cam can do. Much faster spool, more airflow through the motor means cooler EGTs, better mileage, less smoke.

While its apart, do yourself a favor and have a machine shop balance the rotating assembly and polish the crank. Its only a couple of bucks and SOOOOOO worth it........

By taking out the fuel plate and cramming the star wheel, what kind of gas economy would he be looking at? If he is shooting for 18, without doing anything else where would he be
