More then 16º also includes 17º and 18º and 19º. As I said, 21º was just an example, not that every truck should run it. To say that you CANT run more then 16º on stock gasket and bolts without the gasket going is not true.

I state that opinion based upon facts I have collected on others whom have had bad luck running high levels of timing w/out supporting mods.

maybe MAX was the wrong term for stock head bolts. the term SAFEST would be more fitting!

Well if you want safest, don't mess with it. Stock is safest. (but who wants stock?)

I personally would crank it up to 17 or so and call it good. 18 if you retorque
