power estimates & advice for a newbie?

I've been considering changing my plans to a single turbo. Not only to save some coin, but also because I'm goin to swap this engine into an old Chevy so I'd probably have to have the twins setup custom made. I'm not much of a welder, so that could get very pricey in labor alone. I'm just afraid that a single 64mm turbo might be kinda laggy. I've been told that a cam swap will help noticeably with spooling. Is that true? Another cam question I have is...Do I really need a billet cam? I've read elsewhere that most guys opt for a billet cam due to the stress that a p-pump puts on the cam, but I see a lot of you guys running pretty stout pumps with stock cams. It doesn't seem to be hindering those guys at all. Anyone have any experience with a Hamilton Big Stick cam? Much more affordable. I'd switch to that cam as long as durability won't be an issue.

as for your cam question for 500hp you do not need a billet cam. it is true that about turning the pump does take a good amout of power.
I'm currently running a Hamilton big stick in my truck, it helps spool up and overall power on the top and bottom end. As for durability ... there is a reason its called the big stick, the core and lobe on that cam are HUGE! Mine has seen 5,000 rpm many times and I have had no issues with it. Make sure when ordering the cam you opt for the bolt on retainer, this will prevent the cam gear from ever walking off the end of the shaft.

If the Hamilton cam holds up for you, it'll be more than enough for me. I won't be turning past 4,000rpm or pulling anything over 5,000lbs. If I do decide to go with a single turbo, it will be between the Industrial Injection Silver 64 (64/74/14) or a High Tech Turbo (64/71/14). With a 181/210 Big Stick and either of those turbos, how would it spool? Would that be within reason for a daily driver with pump mods and 5x.014 injectors?
By the way, I'm still tryin' to decide between DDP and SDX for the injectors. I originally chose DDP for the fact that they use brand new injector cores for all of their products. Can I get new cores on the SDX injectors? If so, what would the additional cost be? Thanks again for all the advice guys. I've been messin' with gas engines my whole life, but this diesel stuff is all new to me. I just can't see the downside to an engine that makes more power, lasts longer, and gets better economy (per power output). I think I'm converting to diesel for good.

look at my sig, id guess ive got around 600 hp, and i get 19-21 mpg regularly, thats drivin pretty civilized most of the time, but blowin smoke and whatnot regularly, did a 4th gear burnout the other day, wouldve grabbed 5th, but was afraid of blowing up the already bald tires, could see cord after

I decided to go with the SDX stage III 5x0.014 injectors. Not gonna buy them just yet considering I haven't bought an engine yet. Gotta keep my priorities straight here. What do you guys think I should do for delivery valves? I've been looking at 191, 024, and some that DDP makes ( claim to be slightly more powerful than 191s ). I wanna have plenty of power and smoke, when I want it; however, I don't want sky-high egt's and uncontrollable smoke. Any advice on this subject?
