Default ht3b housing questions

ok guys, i had a massive 36cm housing for my 3b that obviously wouldnt spool.
i looked forever and finally found what i wanted. holset 23cm housing!!
my only question is the housing has 23 on it. it has 23 stamped on the inlet.
and i matched the part number to a 23cm
my only question is the two housings are indentical in size physically.
the 23s demensions are just as big as the 36.
is it the internals that are different? the way they are desined in the inside?

The 23cm housing is the divided one. I believe 23 cm, refers to 23 cm^2 (area) for air to enter the exhaust housing? The holes should be smaller. Atleast I hope since I have the same exact housing.

External dimentions don't mean poop though that's a big size jump and it seems like it would. Google A/R. And you should get some good explinations.

I belive the number of cm is the area of the scroll outlet only.
