Default Blow off valve????

Ok, all you manuel guys out there this idea is for you (including myself). Ok so you know how when you shift you lose all your boost or well most of it rather. i was thinking what if you used a blow off vavle to remide this. The kids in the tuner cars do it and it works why couldnt we. what do yall think about it?

I think they use the blow off valve to relese the boost not make it thats why you can here the air come out everytime they let off to shift.

i believe correct me if im wrong but: i thought that the use of a blow off valve was to release the pressure on the intake side of the turbo between shifts. which in turn would help the wheel keep spinning...and if you have big turbos it cut down on the little bit of lag seen when you get back on the throttle.....the point isnt to have it to make boost the point of having it is to help you sustain it between shifts.

Well now ya mentiond it that makes scense reduce the pressure to keep it spooled or sorta spooled.

It kinda works like that but not really... It's more for keeping the turbo from surging (barking) when you let off the go pedal quickly... It gives the incoming air a place to escape hence the noise you hear.

right so on that same principle. the "bark" is from the wheel being quickly "unloaded" from the exhaust side but not the intake side. now if you did the same to the intake side the turbo would free spin, so in affect the intake air would cause a drag on the wheel causing excessive loss of rpm like it normally would.

The bark is cause by intake air being backed up in the intake side of the system and tryin to come back through the turbo (spinning it backwards) barking it. But during a shift your not gonna bark the turbo, well at least I never had. No matter what your losing psi since your not on the skinny pedal making it spin. With a bov it's more for saving the turbo than retaining wheel speed.

ok question. wouldn't the bov stop the wheel from spinning backwards. and if it did that wouldnt it take less time to spool it again.... im just curious to see it it would make us manuel guys get a little faster.
