Blow off valve????
oy! Why does this BOV thing keep popping up?
Yes I have barked my turbo between shifts
Yes I have done it on a WOT let off
No diesels don't produce vacuum( unless they use a pump)
And yes some diesel have throttle plates. What now?
Now why does a diesel surge a turbo when you let off at WOT? Simple. Loss of drive pressure. You have a short distance between the combustion chamber and the turbine wheel. You have a relatively long distance between the compressor wheel and the combustion chamber. When you let off the throttle you quit injecting fuel and quite making heat. It is common sense to think that you would loose drive pressure much faster than boost pressure no?
Since air is lazy it finds the path of least resistance. Remember the turbo has nothing (or relatively nothing) driving it anymore so the boost pressure can overcome the turbo's inertia(or most of it) and force its way back out in the intake tract. Sometimes momentarily stopping or dramatically slowing its rotation. Which is hard on stuff. Simple eh?
Plumbing in a BOV is as simple as hooking up a drive pressure line to the topside of a BOV. Drive pressure keeps it closed and boost pressure will force it open. Also simple eh?

what i love best is sumone that argues bout nuthing they have the slightest clue about!!!
thats what really gets me!!!
