oy! Why does this BOV thing keep popping up?

Yes I have barked my turbo between shifts

Yes I have done it on a WOT let off

No diesels don't produce vacuum( unless they use a pump)

And yes some diesel have throttle plates. What now?

Now why does a diesel surge a turbo when you let off at WOT? Simple. Loss of drive pressure. You have a short distance between the combustion chamber and the turbine wheel. You have a relatively long distance between the compressor wheel and the combustion chamber. When you let off the throttle you quit injecting fuel and quite making heat. It is common sense to think that you would loose drive pressure much faster than boost pressure no?
Since air is lazy it finds the path of least resistance. Remember the turbo has nothing (or relatively nothing) driving it anymore so the boost pressure can overcome the turbo's inertia(or most of it) and force its way back out in the intake tract. Sometimes momentarily stopping or dramatically slowing its rotation. Which is hard on stuff. Simple eh?

Plumbing in a BOV is as simple as hooking up a drive pressure line to the topside of a BOV. Drive pressure keeps it closed and boost pressure will force it open. Also simple eh?

Because it's tapped into an artificial vacuum source (aka a vacuum pump) perhaps

PSD's have bad turbo bark also. Its cured by purchasing a 90$ wicked wheel.

What the?? Are you really a jackass or are you just messing with me? The brake boosters in our truck (hydroboost, if you will..) is controlled by the power steering pumps, though I've heard some earlier cummins use vacuum produced by the vacuum pump (which is right in front of the powersteering pump).

So I suppose that unless you are just yanking my chain, what you said goes towards yourself?

yeah If your vacuum gauge is showing 20" or Mercury you have big problems. Your truck smoke much? You probably followed everyones advice and put a bag over the filter
