Have you ever barked the turbo during a shift? The only thing that's gonna help is a quicker shift... Short throw on a nv4500 is a nice add, worked nice on my 5600. But we all know 9 times outa 10 a built auto will walk on a manual...

what would you use to open the blow off valve? on a gas vehicle the bov is opened by vacuum. when you lift on the pedal you lose boost and the negative vacuum is what opens it.

on a gas engine you still loose full boost when u let to shift. i had a turbo eclipse in high school... lost boost between shifts...

BD has an electric motor wth spring setup that activates the bov. Look at BD's site and look into their turbo gaurd and the have the install manual there to give u a pdf on how it works.

Ya like the other guys said, first and foremost diesels dont produce vacuum to operate the bov. Second off, the point of the bov is to vent the boost so it doesn't overboost during shifts when the throttle plate shuts quickly (throttle plate: another part diesels dont use). They are pretty much worthless on diesels.

Not true... It's just excess boost that has nowhere to go so it comes back through the turbo causeing it to bark/surge, not from producing too much boost. Too much boost/ over speed of the turbo is regulated by the wastegate on the turbo itself or a aftermarket wastegate mounted on the exhaust manifold itself. As for not being useful on a diesel it is. It helps prevent turbo surge and could save the turbo from an untimely death.
