Default question.

my dad is looking to get a 12valve and he wants to know if mild mods (tune afc, intake, exhaust) hurt the life of the motor? if the truck stays stock will it last longer than with mild mods?

My moms 97 has had the pump rack press, AFC turned up and has intake and straight pipe since around 150,000 miles and now has close to 400,000 miles. Just one turbo, radiator, 3 5spds, 4 clutches and other misc stuff. Truck still pulls whatever load she ties onto with ease.

With regular maintenance and not running the heck out of it, it will last a long long time.
