97 cummins fuel plate
Hi, All:
Over a year ago I took the fuel plate completely out and have great power; yes, I do need to watch my heavy foot but I still get 20-22 mpg at freeway speeds; 17 in town. I also have a 4" stainless exhaust, threw away the cat (naughty!), added piro and boost gauges, rebuilt the auto tranny to really HD and low stall torque converter. Everything works great.
Am now doing the KDP repair: oil leaked pretty bad, when I removed the front accessories the housing had a 1" square chunk broken so I knew the pin was out. My heart started jumping but removed the cover and found the pin wedged between the gear and housing. Bought a new pin, made a tab, checked the torgue on all bolts using locktite red. I epoxied the broken piece of housing in place and reinforced on the outside of the housing with a 1"x2" metal piece which I also epoxied. This should hold it.
280,000 miles on this rig and many more to go.
