Moving the plate foward is going to hurt your mpg's becuase it will be fueling harder but as long as you can keep your foot out of the throttle you might get the same, but the hard thing is keeping your foot off the go pedal. A 3 or 4k gov. spring kit will wake the truck up alot, I would suggest putting the 4k springs in so you wont have to change it in the future if you plan on more mods. To adjust the fuel plate take off the afc housing, then loosen the two scerws holding the plate(dont take all the way out as you could drop one down into the pump and that would be no bueno) slide plate foward then re tighten the screws. As far as your mpg issue you should be getting better mpg's unless your dogin it all the time. Sounds like your timing has slipped and that could very well cause your mpg issues. I was gettin horrible mileage when I first bought mine then we checked the timing and it had slipped to 11 degrees, stock is around 14. Bump it up to 16 or 16.5 and you should see a drastic improvement. Hope this helps
