im not sure if im under standing but the "oring" is actually a piece of wire. you need to still run a gasket, is there a special one to use with the oringed head? and im sorry im kinda dumb, but could you explain the fire ring thing a little better

It is usually done with a .041 piano or safety wire. YES, you still use a head gasket. You can use a standard head gasket or a thicker one if you prefer.

The shop will cut a groove and then install the wire

I had not heard of having an o-ring in the head and block.
Is the same cutting tool used?
Is a std head gasket used?
My engine is going to be out and i like the o-ring better than fire rings.

You do not use a stock gasket with fire rings. The compression ring in the gasket is removed and the fire rings seal the combustion in the chamber. With O-rings a stock gasket is used and the ring just helps to hold the gaskets compression ring in place. I have seen guys do the block or the head for O-rings. The head is usually prefered as you can remove it but there are tools to O-ring the block. It's the old school gasser way but it will hold up as well but I feel the head is the better way to go.
