This depends on if your stock one is lose or not. Best way to tell is to pull it out and see if it has play in the joints. I have this new shaft your lookin at and as much as I'd love to say it made a world a difference for the money I paid for it, the truth is it didn't help anything in my truck. The new steering gear was the night and day difference in mine.

I have 208,000 miles on my truck daily driving in PA and have had no need for one of those shafts. As already stated, unless you see play in the steering shaft joints it may not be needed. If your having issues with chasing the front end all over the road(ie-sawing the wheel all the time)then you have issues which are other known problems.

best mod i ever did, mine was loose in the slide part and not the u-joints, i also did a steering stabilizer bracket that attaches to the pit man arm, and another bracket that allowed me to install the newer track bar w/ solid bushings on both ends [ found in 02 trucks] best money i spent to date, also did this on my wifes half ton, the last straw was a death wobble on red mountain pass w/ 4 horses in the trailer in the middle of the skinny part of the road just out side of Ouray , got all my mod parts from polyperformance.com and track bar from dealer only, been on truck for about 5 years now and no return of the death wobble, good luck. oh and i just replaced the FACTORY balljoints, ans knuckle u-joints, at 300,000 miles, [i gotta quit being so hard on my truck]
