I remember him telling me that the materials for making the product doubled or trippled - so he would have been losing money on the product.

Ya, that was part of it. The other part was getting the molding companies to stop jacking their rates and giving out crap. It didn't matter if they were molded in Calgary or Regina, both started to go off the rails after a short production run. The last batch sold, were the best IMHO.. And hooking up with UNI for the custom foam filters was the icing on the cake.
