Default Transmission upgrade?

Is there a legitamite option to spending $1200 on a 3 vane torque converter for my old 1996 12V? I love the truck when it's turned up but that's TOO much $$$...

You can save a little money and go with a good Single Disc Converter.

Cool Luke, thanks for the info. Where would I find one or how would I know if my truck has one? Since I am not the original owner and I do know that the tranny was gone thru at about 100,000 miles it could have one. Is there any way I can tell without removing the transmission?
