pulling timing cover what all should i do?

it anit that bad we did it on my budies 95 last year its a cake walk, didnt get pics though to much alcohol involved anyway, we just grindid a bunch of the case away on the top infront of the injector pump that with the little grinding stones( look like a bullet) we make the grind deeper, just enough to get the plug in then sloped the silicone on it

no but thats the way my budie is, silicone and duct tape is his to best freinds, he just didnt want it to build up with durt over time

Have a look here - if you scroll down you will see a procedure to take the timing case cover off (unfortunately, there isnt any pics):

Ram Diesel KDP retainer



Theres a few different ways to bump the timing - have a look at this for starters:

TSB 18-10-94 Rev. A

You will need some special tools for the timing adjustment. And you wont need a grinder for this job.

i saw a thread on timing by pulling the gear off and moving it counter clockwise.... like 1/8in = 1 degree or something. also, if i turn the engine untill the timing pin goes in thats tdc right?

Should be but I believe there are 2 timing pins. Theres one for the injector pump and another one, but Im not certain.

Left red circle is engine timing pin (tdc)

Right red circle is pump timing pin



EDIT: Also I would reccomend either getting a gauge or having some with a gauge time it. You're risking blowin a head gasket if you don't. Don't ask how I know this
